Denmark, the smallest of the Nordic countries, is located in Northern Europe on the Jutland Peninsula and 406 islands, 79 of which are inhabited. It shares a border with Germany and is connected to Sweden via the Øresund Strait. The country is a member of the EU, NATO, and the UN. Its capital, Copenhagen, lies on the island of Zealand. Denmark is characterized by its flat landscapes, with its highest point being Yding Skovhøj hill (172.54 m above sea level). The best time to visit is summer, when temperatures range from 15 to 25 °C.
